The Children’s Village, at 14 East Casino Road, Everett Washington, is a place where families can--in one easily accessible location--find a multitude of programs to educate and nurture their children as they develop.  Working together, Little Red School House, Inc. and other agencies have created a "natural environment" that entices children of differing abilities to learn positively from each other.

 

 

Childrens Village

       Conference Center

        Affiliated with Little Red School House, Inc.

Located in Building A, the Children’s Village Conference Center brings valuable educational programs and classes to professionals and parents.  This is an ideal setting for board meetings, conferences, classes, monthly lunch meetings and many other events.  Costs are competitive and discounts are available for groups scheduling regular use of meeting spaces.  Proceeds from the Conference Center are applied toward program services for children with special needs.

County Video Lending Library

A collaborative project with funding from the Snohomish County Division of Developmental Disabilities, the Infant Toddler Early Intervention Program and Little Red School House, this library makes videos and written resource materials available to families and professionals at no cost.   Materials may be checked-out for a two week period.   Call (425) 513-1663 to request a catalog.

 

 

Everett Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)    Diagnostic Clinic

A specialized team of professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, early childhood educators and other experts in the field of FAS meet monthly to assist diagnosis and treatment planning for children at risk of alcohol related birth defects.   Call (425) 870-4749 for more information.

 

 

Clothes for Kids at the Village

New and gently used clothing is provided to low income families with children aged birth to three.  The clothing is displayed in a boutique atmosphere in Building D.   Due to space restrictions, it is necessary to call ahead for an appointment.   Call (425) 670-7285 for hours of operation and more information.

 

Deaconess Children’s Services

- Gateway Program

Parenting classes, home visiting and support services are provided to parents who are developmentally delayed with typically developing children.  The Parent Trust Program provides parent education, group support and child care during parent classes.   Call (425) 349-7524 for more information or to register for classes.

 

 

Early Head Start

Operated by Edmonds Community College, Early Head Start is a federally funded program providing parent education and child development services for low income families with children under age four. Children enrolled in Early Head Start and Little Red School House participate weekly in jointly planned activities.   Call (425) 513-5828 for enrollment information.

 

 

Snohomish County Head Start

Head Start is a federally funded program operated by Edmonds Community College which provides parent education and child development services for low-income families with children aged four and up.   Call (425) 513-5828 for enrollment information. 

 

 

Snohomish County Fathers’ Network

Part of a national program for fathers of children with special needs, the Fathers’ Network meets monthly for mutual support and education. Space is provided by Little Red School House and the Children’s Village Childcare and Preschool with costs for child care provided by the ARC of Snohomish County.   Contact Robert Maier  maier.family@gte.net   for more information.

  Little Red School House, Inc.

 

 

Located in Building C at the Children’s Village, Little Red School House provides education and therapy services to children under age three who have developmental delays and disabilities.  Services are both center and community based.  Contact Kathleen Wartelle at (425) 513-1663 for a free screening.

 

The Village Toddler Preschool

A program of Little Red School House, the Toddler groups provide early learning opportunities for any child 18 months to three years of age. Typically developing children receive learning opportunities alongside children who may have developmental delays.  Call (425) 513-1663 for enrollment information.

 

 

 

Childrens Village

   Childcare and Preschool

Childcare is provided for children aged six weeks to six years in Building D.  The childcare is inclusive and typically developing children interact with those with special needs both in the classroom and in the jointly shared Village playground.   Call (425) 355-0954 for enrollment information.

 

Tech Steps

A program of Sherwood Community Services, Tech Steps provides technology, adaptive play equipment, support, and consultation services to families with children with special needs.   Contact Pattie Urie at (425) 334-4071 for more information.

 

Interactive Play Space

This shared space provides creative settings to allow children to expand their imaginations and explore new adventures. Children enrolled in all programs at the Children’s Village come together to enjoy the grocery store, the train room, or the fire house that were created by community volunteers.

 

 

About Childrens Village

The Children’s Village is a collaborative project of Little Red School House, Inc.   Separate, independent organizations have come together into a new structure characterized by teamwork, shared ownership of problems, shared visions and goals, and shared resources.  These joint efforts provide creative options for quality, comprehensive services to young children.
